CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER FOUND GUILTY OF ADDITIONAL OFFENSES GETS 82 YEARS, WREG.COM
Memphis, TN — A previously convicted sex offender has been found guilty of additional child pornography offenses while on supervised release. The guilty verdict was given in court on Friday. Jarrod Sanford, 43, of Covington, was found guilty of production of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and committing a felony offense against a minor while required to register as a sex offender. Between July and November of 2023, Sanford used a cell phone to take pictures of himself raping a 13-year-old child, according to reports presented at trial. On November 19, 2023, the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report about the rape of a child and recovered a phone from Sanford’s home. In the phone, agents with the FBI Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force say they found pictures that Sanford had taken during a prior rape of the child. Officials also say Sanford’s DNA matched the samples taken from the child victim. According to reports, Sanford was already convicted of a sex offense. He was on federal supervised release and the Tennessee sex offender registry during the time he committed the additional offenses. In February 2024, a federal grand jury indicted Sanford for child pornography and registry offenses. On July 25, Sanford was convicted by federal jurors after a four-day trial.
